friendship

today instead of thinking about the love i didn’t receive

i thought about the abundant love i do have

with friends and family

specifically my best friend

to have a platonic soul mate is the truest form of love

she picks up the phone every time i call her

she sleeps over and holds me when i cry

she holds my hand

she listens to me and offers her wisdom

we share experiences and pain and laughter and dreams and goals

we root for each other

when i share my happiness it’s multiplied by two

and when i share my sadness it lessens by half
